If it's done well, I like it. I've played rock, big band, blues, country, gospel, bluegrass, jazz, folk, polkas, and clasical. Haven't tried a rap group yet.
I enjoy Fleetwood Mac, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Clapton, Stevie Ray, BB King, Willie Nelson, Josh Turner, Kaki King, Gorillaz, Duke Ellington, George Clinton, Chili Peppers, Grand Funk, Janis, Jimmy, The Beatles, Lyle Lovitt, Greenday, Whitesnake, Blackfoot, The Dead, Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone, Pointer Sisters, Brooks and Dunn, Benny Goodman, Doc Watson, Hank, Waylon, George Jones, IVY, Nick Cave, OK Go, Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Alice Cooper, Al Cooper, Chet Atkins, Arlo Guthrie, John Prine, Dolly Partin, Weather Report, The Stones, Dr. John, Los Lonely Boys, Kenny Chesney, Aretha Franklin, David Allen Coe, James Brown, Otis Reading, Gretchin Wilson, Buck Owens, Deep Purple, Led Zepplin, and the list goes on and on and on and on.....................

My wife likes the country stuff so I've gotten familiar with all those that Don mentioned and I feel the same about Shania as well. Try this guy, Paul Thorn for some very good Blue eyed southern soul, Oh and of course the Sub Dudes are right at the top of my current list of favs. Then last summer I was introduced to The Betweeners by our very own Matt Gage. All cool stuff for makin guitars.

I'm pretty eclectic...

Right now I'm playing Tom Petty's greatest hits (iTunes is my friend)..

I run the gammit from Fingerstyle to Hair Metal

My Faves though are as follows:

- Rush
- Kansas
- Pink Floyd
- Nickel Creek
- Alison Krause
- Toad The Wet Sprocket
- Eric Johnson
- Brian Setzer
- Alice In Chains

But I listen to a really wide array of artists, so in one play list I go from 10CC, Gerry Rafferty (remember baker street) to Aerosmith and Linkin Park.

Limbaugh, not the band from Canada, although they are good. Ted Nugent is OK, too.

I used to love King's X, though my tastes have veered from the hard rock and metal. Gretchen Goes To Nebraska is excellent, for me that's a "milestone" in my music history.

At home, I am surrounded by cassettes from the 70's thru the 90's.

Here at work, I usually listen some combination of cds by these "classical music" artists:

   Pink Floyd
   Randy Newman
   Martha Masters
   Joan Armatrading
   Leo Kottke
   John Williams
   Supertramp
   Robert Cray
   Todd Rundgren
or Eric Clapton/Cream/Blind Faith..et al.

Another Grateful Dead plug. Good on ya, Mr Tripp! Many influences and a few discovered through The Dead: Bluegrass, Western (NOT Country & Western), Folk:
The Carter Family
Bob Dylan
Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers

I have a 30GB Ipod thats full. In the gym I've been listening to:
Blind Melon (MAN, that was some talent)
White Stripes (Fun, immediately likeable for a short stint)
Led Zepplin (my 4 year-old likes them)

Oh my, where to start?

Serious Deadhead here. I don't find that this extends to much of the rest of the jam band scene, though. Maybe Widespread Panic. Phish up to a certain point.

From my earliest formative years: Beatles, Stones. Beatles have been in heavy car CD rotation lately. Traffic (their second album is my all time favorite)

Almost anything Neal Young ever did. All of early Zappa.
Allman's. Little Feat.

Any jazz; favorites are Miles and Coltrane, and Monk's genious for the unplayed note. More modern - Dave Holland's Conference of the Birds probably one of my favorite albums of all time. Art Ensemble of Chicago. Sun Ra. More modern - Steve Coleman I really like. I dislike Wynton Marsalis on principal, due to his traditionalist stand and the influence that that has on access to performance space for more modernist musicians in NY. Too bad he's so good.

Favorite band of 80's: The Replacements
Favorite band of 90's: Uncle Tupelo -> Son Volt (I sidestepped Wilco somehow)
The present: Gillian Welch - who's voice just melts my soul.
From the 60's on: Richard Thompson - whose guitar playing (both electric and acoustic) could satisfy me in its completeness if I never heard another person. And I think he's one of the better singers around, too.

Medieval - Baroque - Classical (orchestral and small ensemble, particularly the string quartet) - skip Romantic, I don't get it. 20th Century, 12 tone, minimalist, bring it on. Faves: Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Bartok, Hindemith, Steve Reich, John Adams.

Guitar playin'? Fahey, but Renbourn too, and Bensusan
Lot's of people I like. Incredible String Band. Norman Blake in his showoff days. Gordon Bok was always a favorite - especially the story songs.

Africa - Mali, Madagascar
Mexico - really big Son Jarocho fan.
Asia - Indian classical. Ali Ahkbar Khan's sarod. Balinese gamelan. Tan Dun one of my favorite present-day orchestral composers.

and on and on. I always want to know what Jimi, Duane and Lowell George would be playing these days.

Clearly, this is too big a question!

Alison Krauss, Nickel Creek are two that I like that others mention
When my son is in the car we are always listening to 50 Fun Songs for Kids,
like Farmer in the Dell, Old Mac, Bingo, etc.

I met Chris White from the Chris White Band last week and am enjoying his
CD. He plays a very nice BRW Taylor guitar.

Devendra Banhart has some funky worded songs that are kind of folksy.

Dave Beegle is probably my favorite and a young guy from Boulder, Trace
Bundy, seems to be following in his footsteps and forging his own path. I
don't know about Chris but the others are on iTunes.

Blues and more blues-Chicago style,Delta and in between. Have everything EC has done from Mayall to today.Listen to Clapton on Tribute to SRV-"Ain't gon give up on Love"-might be the finest electric blues cut ever done by anyone. OK, I'm a worshipper. If not blues, then "The Band" is my other addiction. CSN-&Y,Neil Young & Crazy Horse,Grateful Dead,Allmans. I listen to modern country while in my car or truck-or Skaggs,Kraus, Chapin-Carpenter, Marty Stuart,Vince Gill et al. Oh, and the white guys that got me hooked on blues too, Dave "Snaker Ray, John Koerner, Tony Glover.Neck must be red-no classical, jazz or other stuff with high culture class. MT

Anybody else out there love Leon Redbone?

Also didn't mention I'm a diehard CCR (with Fogerty) fan.
